a week from now we will begin the wedding weekend with the rehearsal dinner. i’ve been wanting to post this for awhile, and now that everyone invited has received their invite, i am sharing it here, along with the process.

i wanted to draw the invite from the moment we started planning the wedding. i got nervous about it, thought and sketched a variety of ideas… then it struck me! amelie was my source of inspiration… the first movie nick and i saw together was amelie. nick proposed to me in montmarte atop scare-couer, much of amelie was filmed in that area of paris. it seemed perfect! i went through literally dozens of film stills and we both agreed on this one:

nick forced me to add his goatee, which i always leave out because to me its become part of his face and i forget that its there. he claims its because i secretly don’t like his goatee, but that’s because he’s silly.

i transferred the drawing on bristol and inked it, then colored it in photoshop, added the frame and…
